Why Bother?

Do you wonder why God even bothers about you? Why has he made all these astounding promises to us? These verses give us the answer. Oh and don’t forget gals, he used here is all man/womankind so we are included! YAY!

“Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. With long life, I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.” (Psalm 91:14-16, NIV)

Did you get that? Because we love him and acknowledge his name, he rescues, protects delivers and honors us.

And all we have to do is call on his name. Do you know the name he speaks of? Are you aware of the name above all names? Without it, God’s protection plan is not available to us.

That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (Philippians 2:10-12, NIV)

Hang On

My family has been struggling through several long and difficult situations. This morning God told me to encourage myself. I asked, “Is this possible?” and I heard in my heart…  “look it up.”  And there it was in 1 Samuel 30.

David and his men returned to find their camp burned and everyone, even the women and children, captured. First, they wept till they could weep no more. Since they had no one else to get their hands on, David’s men decided to blame and stone him.

David had no where to turn, or did he? In verse 6 we are told that he encouraged and strengthened himself in the Lord his God.The Message Bible says ‘he strengthened himself with trust in his God.’

“So haven’t we been doing that,” I ask myself? I read on.   Then David prayed to God, “Shall I go after these raiders? Can I catch them?”The answer came, “Go after them! Yes, you’ll catch them! Yes, you’ll make the rescue!”(1 Samuel 30:8, MSG)   So I take this as a promise from God and I encourage myself in the Lord, I trust my God.   Prayer-Lord, when all seems at its worst, you are at your best. In Christ, we stand on your word. Amen.
