Heart-less?

Does a damaged heart love the Lord less than a healthy one does? This is one of the pie-in-the-sky questions hubby and I sometimes discuss.

Hubby asks this of me, the non-medical person; because I am here and his doctor isn’t.

Because he’s had multiple heart surgery and questions like this dog him; because heart surgery changes who you are right down to your taste buds.

How should I know the answer? I don’t, but I know who does.

Ezekiel 3:10-Moreover, He said to me, Son of man, all My words that I shall speak to you, receive in your heart and hear with your ears(AMP).

“Are you receiving His message?”, I query?

“Indeed, I have. I do.” replies my darling.

“Do you love Him with all your repaired heart? Even with the new valve and the triple-by-pass parts?” I probe?

“Even more than before.” He grins.

Ha! He’s been teasing me once again. He knows his own answer.

And God confirms it to both of us in 1 Corinthians 4:7.

1 Corinthians 4:7-For who do you know that really knows you, knows your heart? And even if they did, is there anything they would discover in you that you could take credit for? Isn’t everything you have and everything you are sheer gifts from God? So what’s the point of all this comparing and competing? You already have all you need. You already have more access to God than you can handle. Without bringing either Apollos or me into it, you’re sitting on top of the world—at least God’s world—and we’re right there, sitting alongside you (MSG)!

Our most severe  heart critic is our own self. Why do we not take God at His word? We already have more access to God than we can handle…

Will we dodge it? Avoid it? Ignore it?

Or cling to it?

Birthday Doings

Hubby had another birthday this week. His latest toy is an updated computer which he uses full force. That is, he plays euchre with the sound on. This means the  ‘other’ opponents hoot and holler as they see fit…

Of course Ron also has his current country/western CD blaring too. So I am treated to perhaps a yodeling Slim Whitman or a mournful Tex Ritter with intermittent yells from the card-playing opponents…

Makes for an interesting background to a Joyce Meyer conference on TV…

Regret Free Parenting-Regretfully

Oh how I wish I’d had this book, Regret Free Parenting, by Catherine Hickem, LCSW, when I was raising my own children. The author caught my attention immediately by quoting “The Dash” by Linda Ellis. It speaks to what we will do between our birth and our death. Ms. Hickem takes it one step farther. She says Who’ we influence is more important than our do.

I especially liked chapter 6 because it addresses the difference between control and intention, or addressing our fears. I was a control mom, simply because I lived in fear. I learned lots about myself in this chapter.

And I am grateful that I learned early on to give everything over to faith. Whew!

This is a quick read, easy to understand book, full of helpful examples and clear explanations. Highly recommend it.

After this depressing little post……

my darling daughter-in-law Tabetha, wrote this. Blessed are the cracked for they let in the light. Then Carley sent This link..enjoy

One of Those Days-Sigh

Posted on March 18, 2011 by Brenda J. Wood

Did you ever…?

Did you  ever have….?

Did you ever have one of those days….?

When nothing goes right from morning to night…?

Did you ever have one of those days….? Days…?  Days…? Days…?

Thanks to my teen years with Elvis as my hero, I remember the words to this song all too well….

And today was one of those days….

Thank God- it is almost tomorrow.

Thank God for the dark of night to re-coop.

Thank God for Jesus Christ..

……and the hope….of a fresh tomorrow.

Crochet Crowns Edging

The Royal Wedding! Are you excited, or at least intrigued?

I’ve just come across an old crochet pattern from my granny’s stash called  “Coronation Edging”.I expect it came from the days of King George the sixth or even earlier. There is a crown design worked into the stitches.

If you are a crocheter and eager to put your stamp on Royal wedding memories, contact me at  brendawoodauthor@yahoo.ca.

Till then, remember that if you have asked Jesus into your life, you are also ROYAL!

Raining Again

The price of gas is up. The weather is terrible. The skies are gray and rain falls against the window pains.

And I whine.

Then I turn on the news. An earthquake here, a tsunami there. A struggle for democracy in some country. Freedom fighters giving their lives for just that.

Sudden deaths by accident or misadventure, shocking illnesses.

I remember and I stop my whine.

Instead, I count my blessings.

So how goes your whining today? Surely it is over by now.

A Quinn Day

To our delicious surprise we find ourselves looking after 2 year-old Quinn today.

Could we do it everyday? Not likely! Not enough stamina. Even when not so well this little guy can run us ragged.

The best thing? When we came into the house and he saw it was indeed…Amma and Afi’s house, he reacted!

Temperature or not, he ran and laughed and laughed and ran and hugged for 4-5 minutes. He found it a lovely thing, just to be in our house, in our presence.

When is the last time we showed such delighted joy to be with our Father God?
