Confessions from a Farm Wife —by Caroline Way

Confessions of a Farm Wife is a modern take on the life of Job. (Okay what on earth were his parents thinking to call him a name like Job!)

This is a wonderfully, exciting and hard-to-put-down read. It’s a gripping story of a modern young farmer named Job who believes that God is in every detail and can change circumstances if He wishes. Job’s Missus tells the tale from her point of view.

Like the Biblical Job, trauma and loss come upon every aspect of his life, his family, his farm and everything near him. His Nearest and Dearest beg him to repent from some unknown sin so that the relentless attacks of loss will stop.

Job though, understands that God is who He says He is. He refuses to say he is sorry for something he didn’t do. Like the original Job, in the midst of every catastrophe, he falls to his knee, thanks and blesses God.

The story ends just as God begins to give him double for his trouble. You can see that his circumstances are going to turn around.

I LOVED this book. Congratulations to Canadian Caroline Way, whose strong writing made the story come alive.

Grafefully Eating Well

Are you cooking for yourself? Are you eating well? A friend asked me these qustions this week.

Cooking for myself? Not hardly because it is not necessary right at this moment.

Eating well? Now that is a whole different affair. How could I not be eating well? Darling ladies  stocked my freezer with bits and pieces in the last few weeks and I find myself with the ability to choose from a near restaurant-like menu. Shall I eat Lasagna, Potato Soup or a Chicken this day? Or should I investigate spaghetti, pork chops and more? Hmmmmmmmmmmm.

I pridefully tried to refuse these gifts when they were offered. Someone else needs it more, I declared. All of that might be true, but especially on a day when I am a little teary, those meals thoroughly feed my body, mind, soul and spirit. I remember each giver with thanks and great appreciation for their kindnesses to me……  and vow to be grateful…just because I can.

Philippians 1:3-I thank my God in all my remembrance of you (AMP)

The Problem is….

Michael Korda hits us where it hurts with this statement….

In order to succeed, we must first believe we can. Michael Korda

We don’t lose weight because in our hearts we believe it impossible. We don’t try new ventures because we believe we will fail. We don’t get our prayers answered because in our hearts we don’t believe that God is who He says He is and that He can do what He says He will do……

We don’t ……………..

What is it that  you want to do? Do you really believe that it is possible? Why/Why not?

Bus Stop Bible Studies

http://busstopbiblestudies.com   Did you know about this? I sure didn’t till recently. The movement is five years old.

Their mission is to present the Word of God to the general public in the form of short “Bible Studies” using advertising panels on the inside and outside of buses.

AND a 2008 Supreme Court of Canada upheld their right to do so. Instead of telling each other how bad the world is getting to be and how awful the opposition to Christianity, perhaps we should all be getting on board and helping ministries like this to succeed.

They need sponsers….

A Prayer in answer to Prayer

I’ve been praying over a desperate sisutation and God sent this in answer to  my prayer.

Perhaps it is also the answer to yours… Brenda

Be at Peace
Do not look forward in fear to the changes of life;
rather look to them with full hope as they arise.
God, whose very own you are,
will deliver you from out of them.
He has kept you hitherto,
and He will lead you safely through all things;
and when you cannot stand it,
God will bury you in his arms.
Do not fear what may happen tomorrow;
the same everlasting Father who cares for you today
will take care of you then and everyday.
He will either shield you from suffering,
or will give you unfailing strength to bear it.
Be at peace,
and put aside all anxious thoughts and imagination.

Free Book and Interview Today!

All right I expected to do this yesterday but I just got my own copy of Light under the House by Aaron L and Donna Dawson.

I’m giving away a free copy. To win, all you have to do is drop me a line commenting on the interview below.

What inspired you to write this story?

I   feel very strongly about the breakdown of the family and fatherlessness  and how there is much dysfunction and despair because of it. I wanted to  tell a story to shed some light on the situations that many face and  hopefully bring some type of reversal to the current dynamic in whatever  small way I could. I wanted to challenge men, fathers especially, to be  who they were created to be … its certainly a challenge I face myself  daily. A challenge that I often fail at but keeping picking myself up to  start again.
Did you model any of the characters after people you know? I   used many things to model the characters … people I know, other  literary figures, actors, biblical characters, celebrities … the  characters are a combination of all of these. I wanted them to be new  and familiar at the same time, universal.

Why did you choose the Dallas/Ft Worth area as your primary setting?

First   of all, the south has a certain reputation for is deep spiritual roots   (bible belt and all). I patterned the book in part after GONE WITH THE   WIND (another book set in the south) … not in the sense of a love story  but in the sense of “here is civilization that is about to cease to  exist, come see it before its gone”. In the case of my novel it is a   spiritual civilization on the brink. Dallas just seemed to have  everything I needed to make the story work from both a symbolic and  technical standpoint.

Do you have plans to write more books?

I have an idea or two floating around … nothing concrete yet.
What sort of research did you do for the historical portions of your  book? What did you like best about the research?  The least?

My  co-author and I researched deeply into ancient history for some aspects of the book … I learned a lot of things … some things I’d rather  forget but most of it was enlightening. What I liked best was that it  confirmed for me mostly what I already knew, there really is nothing new   under the sun.

Where can we find out about more opportunities for a free copy of this book?

Follow @ChristianSpkrs on Twitter. You can purchase the book through Amazon at http://www.amazon.com/Light-Under-the-House-ebook/dp/B0060C2O92.

I was given a complimentary copy of this book from the author in  exchange for posting the author’s interview on my blog.  This blog tour is managed by Christian Speakers Services (http://ChristianSpeakersServices.com).

Poor Me

What would happen if we got over thinking of ourselves, and instead thought of the other guy and did something to make them happy… How about cooking your family a good dinner at night.

Believe me I would love to cook Ron a great dinner this evening. The day will come when we all regret that we didn`t do  more for the ones we love. Don`t waste a minute of your life moaning and complaining about poor me.  All you lose is a minute of your life.

Cause here is some news for you…It is not about you. It is not about me. It is about making the world a better place. Go for it. Today is a great day. Something good will happen to you today….if you expect it.

Need a little help? Life too hard? Why not ask for help? Angels await your bidding. YOUR bidding! All they want to do is help you. Clear instructions below!

Psalm 103:20-Praise the LORD, you his angels, you mighty ones who do his bidding,  who obey his word.

So that means that we`d better be saying God`s Word..or else all our bored angels will recline on couches eating bonbons while anxiously awaiting something to do.

How about saying this aloud.—I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me?(Phillippians 4:13 KJ)

Therefore I can and will do….

Lamentations 3:24-The Lord is my portion or share, says my living being (my inner self); therefore will I hope in Him and wait expectantly for Him (NIV).

Therefore I will hope in God and expect him to……

Matthew 6:2a-So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets (NIV).

So I can….take a pan of squares to a neighbour, go to a drop-in play group. Be a friend to someone (they might even live in your house!) or smile at the clerk in the  grocery store. Visit a nursing home.

Because life is passing us by…every single day…and when your end comes, you will never regret what you did for someone else…but you will regret the any things you didn`t do.
