That Pesky Tithe Business

Ah, yes the sticky wicket appears. God wants me to do what? WHAT??? GIVE HIM A TENTH OF MY INCOME???? WHAT??? ARE YOU CRAZY????

Well, you either trust God or you don’t.  This is the promise in the Bible. You can toss it away if you like, but if you do, you’ve just proved to yourself that you do not believe God. Why he even invites you to test this principle for yourself.

Bring all the tithes (the whole tenth of your income) into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and prove Me now by it says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.  (Malachi 3:10, AMP)-11, NKJV.

I invite you to jump in with both feet. Get out your check book. Write your church a check for 10% of your gross income this week. Don’t quibble. After all, do you want God to bless the gross or the net?

Prayer – Lord we have been slow to take this one on, but today we take you at your word and test you on this promise! Amen

Forget Worry

What we want and what we need are two different things BUT God knows what we need. Some days it seems that he doesn’t give a fig because we have these bills, these troubles and these pains. But hear this!

Therefore do not worry and be anxious, saying, What are we going to have to eat? Or, what are we going to have to drink? Or, what are we going to have to wear?

For the Gentiles (heathen) wish for and crave and diligently seek all these things, and your heavenly Father knows well that you need them all.

But seek (aim at and strive after) first of all His kingdom and His righteousness (His way of doing and being right), and then all these things taken together will be given you besides.  (Matthew 6:31-33, AMP),

My life is living proof of that. Oh I haven’t evaded financial distress, grief, cancer and so on but at every turn, God met my every need and he will do the same for you.

Prayer – Lord, I take you at your promise God and I prayer on behalf of Everyday Christians’ readers, that they too would take you at your word. Trust and believe. Amen
