Fast Traffic certainly lives up to its name. It is a whirlwind of activity, travelling from the United States to Mexico with dabbles of Vietnam and Ireland. Although it is set in the 50’s it is highly current, considering the atmosphere in North America today. The author knows his subject well. There is a conflict between the United States and Mexico. The book is a mystery full of espionage, kidnapping and mafia. The lead characters push against the rules to get stuff done. Since one of the wives gets involved there is a trail of romance in spite of the constant danger. Surprisingly, I find it to often be a tender book in spite of the over all plot. The surprise ending will brighten your day.

What’s not to like? I learned a lot about government, combat and its participants. There is a lot of info about planes, their purposes and their set up, etc. Don’t in any way consider that this makes the book boring because it does not. It does have considerable strong language but it goes with the book. I am a foodie and Ferguson must be one too. His meal descriptions left me drooling. Quite frankly I think it would make a great movie or TV series. I did not understand some of the terms like BOQ and would have liked a bit more info on terms like that.
