Bug Free by Prayer and Common Sense

I just spoke at a campground that was invested by mosquitoes. The organizer wanted us outside. I braced myself for lots of squishing as I delivered my message. However, we all prayed the place bug-free and the leader helped God out by thoughtfully lighting several bug deterrent candles and placing them on each table. What a difference it made to both us and to the bugs. Not one of them lost their lives during my message.

Who Is Praying?

Every now and again, I am shocked to spot my name on the prayer list of the writing group I belong to. Why ever do they pray for me? Just because they can, that’s why. They pray regularly for every member.

That begs the question…do we really know who is praying for us? (click to tweet)

No, we do not. Somewhere, perhaps across the ocean, in another country, or even in the home of someone you consider to be an enemy, someone, led by the Holy Spirit, is praying for you.

So then when God brings even a difficult person to mind, can we do any less?

When someone gives you a hard time, respond with the energies of prayer for that person (Luke 6:27, MSG). (click to tweet)

Prayer: Lord, as you direct us in prayer today, we will listen and obey. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Nothing Fancy

We meet once a week and hardly ever get through more than 3 chapters. We take turns reading. We interrupt each other when we have questions. We do not use in depth concordances. We just read God’s Word, the Bible. We started at the first of the book, Genesis and we are reading in order till we finish Revelation. About ½ hour before quitting time, we go to prayer. I must say it is one of the most fulfilling studies I have ever done. Nobody is translating for us. No one is telling us what the Word should mean. We just let God speak to us, and we love it.
