Never Too Late For Thanks

EVERYDAY CHRISTIAN

Yes it is the Canadian Thanksgiving weekend and we thrive on that long weekend we enjoy here. We concentrate on our three days off as though it were the end-all and be-all of life. Sometimes we fill it with family, but ofttimes folks make that one last trip up a crowded highway to the cottage.

Does a day off make us pay more attention to a holiday? I don’t think so. To many, it is just another day to get away from work. Here are some thoughts on God’s idea of Thanksgiving.

Enter with the password: “Thank you!” Make yourselves at home, talking praise. Thank him. Worship him. (Psalm 100:4, MSG)

On your feet now—applaud God! Bring a gift of laughter, sing yourselves into his presence. (Psalm 100:1-2, MSG)

Grafefully Eating Well

Are you cooking for yourself? Are you eating well? A friend asked me these qustions this week.

Cooking for myself? Not hardly because it is not necessary right at this moment.

Eating well? Now that is a whole different affair. How could I not be eating well? Darling ladies  stocked my freezer with bits and pieces in the last few weeks and I find myself with the ability to choose from a near restaurant-like menu. Shall I eat Lasagna, Potato Soup or a Chicken this day? Or should I investigate spaghetti, pork chops and more? Hmmmmmmmmmmm.

I pridefully tried to refuse these gifts when they were offered. Someone else needs it more, I declared. All of that might be true, but especially on a day when I am a little teary, those meals thoroughly feed my body, mind, soul and spirit. I remember each giver with thanks and great appreciation for their kindnesses to me……  and vow to be grateful…just because I can.

Philippians 1:3-I thank my God in all my remembrance of you (AMP)

A Turkey Masquerade

I am delighted to announce that my blog

www.heartfeltdevotionals.wordpress.com

has been nominated under the ‘new blog’ category in the  2010 blog awards.

I feel a bit like a cartoon I saw this week.

The farmer is standing with ax in hand and the turkey beside him is yelling “Woof!  Woof!’

That’s me. Surprised to find that I am nominated and feeling like an impostor.

There are so many great blogs and great writers……
