Holiday Fear

We have already eaten a ton of our kids’ Halloween candy. Now the real trouble starts. Parties, teas, restaurant events and office showdowns are on the way.

HELP, God!!!

I’m watching my weight, Lord.I’m careful not to botch it.
My life is a bore for I have to watch it.
Others are chewing and swallowing sugars and fats
But me, I am left with food tasting like hats
Oh when will it end? The season goes on
Valentines till it stops and my fear is all gone!

Fat Chance

God says we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. (From Philippians 4:13) Does he mean even when I have one arm in a sling….I think so!

Then I ask myself why I am still fighting that last ten pounds?

It is long after the Christmas season and I continue to struggle on. (Notice that I haven’t spent much time on that topic yet this year!)

Contrary to our opinion, the Bible actually says that we can be perfect. Thankfully the meaning is also complete and lacking nothing essential.’ Listen to this!

But let endurance and steadfastness and patience have full play and do a thorough work, so that you may be [people] perfectly and fully developed [with no defects], lacking in nothing. (James 1:4, AMP)

Possibly that last ten pounds is only our own lack of perseverance. Let’s face our own shortcomings and our own truth without blaming God for our lack-a-daisy attitude.

Prayer- Lord, let us meet next year with ten less pounds than this year. Amen.

What is happening to your diet?

What is happening to your diet right about now? And we are only a few days into holiday eating!

Have the sugar plums and chocolate buns eaten their way onto your thighs? It is not too late to salvage the season. Try these few changes (and give up second helping):

  • At parties, scope the whole buffet before putting anything on your plate.
  • Go for the raw veggies, low cal shrimp.
  • Make / serve tiny tarts and cookies instead of instead of monster portions.
  • It never pays to miss a meal.
  • Don’t skip your exercise routine.
  • Keep lots of low-cal foods on hand for impulse eating.

Of course these are all helpful, but most of all, do not give up your time with God, for he is your key to success in all areas, even fat.

Then he taught me, and he said to me,” Take hold of my words with all your heart; keep my commands, and you will live. Get wisdom, get understanding; do not forget my words or turn away from them. (Proverbs 4:4-5, NIV)

Prayer- Lord, thank you for reminding us that your word is full of answers, if we will but ask the questions! Amen.

50th wedding anniversary–March 2

March 2 was our 50th wedding anniversary and  God threw me a 50th wedding anniversary party! I went to the podium to speak at exactly -to the minute- 50 years after Ron and I were declared man and wife.
So on March 3rd…
I just got home after a trying but touching event last night.where people laughed, cried and came to know Jesus… I was quite controlled and strong—in Christ of course…but I am crying my way through today which is perfectly fine!
We were on our honeymoon and ordered pancakes one morning. My Ron was eating his way through a stack of them and looked up and said to me–When we get married, you will have to make me pancakes!
So I bought an order of them on the way home and ate every morsel with sausage and bacon and even syrup with never a thought of carbs, fat or dress size…

What are you eating today?

Or should I ask…what is eating you?

Whatever it is, we’ll be eating it via binging if we don’t

deal with it some other way first.

Unfortunately, I’ve learned by

personal experience, that this is true. Bet you

have too. So when craziness happens, let’s be

responsible adults and do something about them,

instead of swallowing them.

After all, we’ll have to deal with them sooner or later.

Without the chocolate is the smart way to go.

Fighting the Fat (AGAIN!)

Why is it that we do not remember what we learned over the last year? Why is it that we eat at Christmas like there is no tomorrow…when Christmas is all about the hope of tomorrow?

If you are struggling with your weight today… I encourage you to go to this blog http://manmeetsscale.com/  and listen to Jennie’s Story–she lost 300 pounds with Weight Watchers… and you will be encouraged beyond your eating.

Hugs to a smaller size…
